Satire 2nd Post

I failed to find any satire in this little clip we were given to watch, I didn’t understand the humor.  He talks about reinstituting the draft so that we have more soldiers on the front lines and more protesters in the streets.  He then moves onto how the current Iraq war is very similar to the Vietnam war, he says that both wars proved John Kerry is a coward.  He then says that if the draft is reinstated then the youth will do something so drastic and something so against the antiwar movement.  Unfortunately I wasn’t able to find the satire at all and I am also having much trouble in finding it in Huck Finn.

The Colbert Report is just one big satire, and Stephen Colbert is not really all that conservative. On most of his shows, especially, “the Word” segment of it, Colbert comes up with different ways to improve America. Usually, what is mentioned on “the Word” is a dramatic spin on what the conservative Republican’s take would be. For example, the draft. Many liberals oppose to it, while a few conservatives like the idea. But the best part of that was when the screen said, “because he’s too old.” Therefore, if a draft would be put into effect (which is highly unlikely) the middle-aged conservative men who like it ever so much, would not be drafted. Do you sort of get it now?
